a bridge of culture and entertainment

New York & Barbagia-Mandrolisai

Island of Sardinia, Italy

AUGUST 27 - TETI

AUGUST 28 - AUSTIS

AUGUST 29 - TONARA

IF

is a festival where the artistic and cultural experiences of New York artists mix with the experiences of the local community.Sardinian poems become African American spirituals; an ancient monument like Nuraghe Lo turns into a holy place for members of the Iroquois Nation; wash tubs and soda cans transform into musical instruments.

We discuss art, history, literature, poetry, technology, economy, media information, and world politics, while dancing, singing, listening, and debating. A true cultural exchange that involves both children and adults. We speak different languages, but we understand each other, and we always learn something.

Mountains on the sea

Barbagia-Mandrolisai is a verdant area in the heart of Sardinia, on the western slopes of the Gennargentu mountain range.

The renowned vineyards are bordered with lushly wooded valleys and hills, covered by forests of holm and cork oaks, chestnut, hazelnut, and walnut trees. The pure and sweet air is sometimes spiced by the rosemary and myrtle bushes scattered all over. The peaceful silence is broken by the bells of the occasional flock of sheep leisurely passing by, and the sound of fresh, uncontaminated water slowly flowing into the many fountains.
